Dr. Erick Alfonso - Secaucus Board of Education Superintendent

A transformational leader based in Hoboken, New Jersey, Dr. Erick Alfonso joined the Secaucus Board of Education as the superintendent of schools in 2023. He has led numerous strategic funding initiatives since that time, with achievements including a $1.67 million New Jersey Department of Education Pre-K Expansion Aid award and a United States Department of Education Fostering Diverse Schools Program grant of nearly $500,000. His efforts have yielded more than $3.7 million in competitive grants. In addition to his work with the Secaucus Board of Education, Dr. Erick Alfonso works for Ramapo College of New Jersey as a graduate professor. In addition to presenting lectures and mentoring students with action research projects, he contributes to the development of the school’s leadership, curriculum, and research courses. His past positions include middle school principal and high school vice principal with the Bogota Board of Education.

Dr. Alfonso holds a doctor of education in educational leadership, management, and policy from Seton Hall University. He also holds a master of business administration and a master of arts in educational leadership from Ramapo College of New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate work in physical education and health at Kean University.
